Orthodontics FAQ

When should my child first see an orthodontist?

Children should generally have their first orthodontic assessment around age seven. At this age, a mixture of baby teeth and permanent teeth allows the orthodontist to identify developing problems with jaw growth, tooth eruption and bite alignment. An early visit does not mean treatment will begin immediately. In many cases, the orthodontist will simply monitor development until the child is older.
